I took advantage of their last sale to grab a few books and a super cute bookmark. Always try to support #smallbusinesses and find good things to read for @read_write_sip
Peters Vet Trip Part 2. See previous post for part Peters Vet Trip Part 2.
See previous post for part 1.
Peter wore his bow tie and made friends with all the girls. He’s such a ham. As we were leaving there was a lady on the bench outside. I’m not sure what she was going through, personal or with her pet, but Peter walked right over to her and lifted his little leg (that’s his way of saying to pet his belly) and she was so tickled at that and asked me if it was okay for her to pet him. I said absolutely! I want him to feel all the love from humans. She wiped her tears and she kept saying “thank you buddy” and “I really needed this.” We talked about how he came to be my pet just a few short weeks ago. She mentioned life was tough right now but they’ll be okay and she continues to pet him. She asked me if he was an emotional support animal and that he should be. She said he just made her day.

I walked away and started to cry a little. The news I heard. Poes back story. Peter’s back story. Poe’s cancer news. Just hit me.

I’m telling you, pets have a way of finding us just when they need them.

I hope that lady gets through whatever she is going through and I’m happy Peter gave her a little joy, even if for a moment. I’m lucky to get to be his mom now as he brings me so much joy every day.

I know the world is upside down right now. But. It does help to find some joy and positivity in every day.
Take a moment to find yours.
Peter and Poe Yesterday was “meet the vet” d Peter and Poe

Yesterday was “meet the vet” day for Peter & I got the test results for Poe from his surgery.

Peter got his cytopoint injection for his skin. He also has an ear infection and his feet are inflamed due to his skin infection & just the lack of care he’s had in life most likely. He wouldn’t let them but meds in his ears or trim his nails so we got sent home with meds and we go back in 10 days. I was also sent home with a new medicated shampoo to try. We are now waiting on the heartworm test results. But all in all Peter is on the road to better skin and he’s in good health.

Poe has 3 bumps removed. All were cancer. The one that started growing where he has a cigar burn scar was the biggest. She is isn’t for sure if she got all of that one so we’re going to let him heal and then decide if we should go back in and clean it out. For now we just keep an eye on existing numbs and for anything new and take him in. We caught these early enough that removal should do its thing so no need for chemo or radiation.

I’ve been down this road before. And while it does prepare you for what you’re going to go through and the choices you will have to make, it doesn’t hurt any less. Poe had such a horrible start to life. He doesn’t deserve this. But it’s my job to continue to give him the best life I can and cherish every day with him.
