The Library of Fates by Margot Harrison
Narrated by Caroline Hewitt

#arcreader review on @read_write_sip #arcreview copy from @netgalley

There are some books that hit you with a quiet kind of magic, and The Library of Fates was exactly that for me. The idea of a rare book that can reveal your future is fascinating, but what I loved most was how the story explores the emotional cost of the secrets we carry.

Eleanor’s life has been shaped by loss, yet she finds safety and purpose inside the library walls. When her mentor dies and the Book of Dark Nights disappears, she is forced out of that safety and into a journey filled with old wounds and new truths. Watching her reunite with Daniel added tension, nostalgia, and tenderness to the mystery.

The settings are dreamy in their own way, from ivy lined Harvard pathways to moody Paris streets. Each location feels like another layer in a larger emotional map. The audiobook narration brings the story alive with calm, expressive delivery that matches the tone perfectly.

If you love stories about books, the secrets people keep, and the slow unraveling of truth between two once connected hearts, this one deserves a spot in your listening queue.

The Probable Son by Cindy Jiban

Ever wonder what makes a parent’s love unconditional? Elsa Vargas does. For fourteen years, she has loved Bird, but deep down, she fears he may not be her real son. When Thomas appears, sharing a birthday with Bird, everything changes.

Jiban’s novel walks the line between heartfelt family drama and ethical dilemma. Will Elsa choose to protect the life she knows or seek the truth that could alter everything?

The story didn’t shock me, but the character work is strong and the narration by Eva Kaminsky made the audiobook a joy. It’s a thought-provoking journey about what truly defines a family.

The Taking is classic Koontz in tone but not quite in execution.

A strange silver rain. A town cut off from the world. Something hunting in the fog. The premise is chilling and the atmosphere is strong. I loved the setup and the eerie sense of dread that only Koontz can create.

But the audiobook narration didn’t match the intensity I expected. Moments that should have been gripping felt flat, and it changed the entire experience for me.

Print readers may enjoy this more than listeners. If you like apocalyptic stories with mystery, survival themes, and creeping horror, this one may still hit the mark.
