You know that feeling when you're 8 books deep and you're only reading out of obligation? When you can barely remember why you cared about the original quest because there have been seventeen new plot threads since then? I used to be the reader who committed to every series, no matter how long. Matching sets lined my shelves. I wore my dedication like a badge of honor. But somewhere between my fifth unfinished series and third "I'll get back to it eventually" promise, something shifted. Now I reach for standalones, and my reading life has never been more free. Here's what I've gained: ✨ Complete emotional closure (no cliffhangers holding me hostage) ✨ The freedom to explore wildly different books back-to-back ✨ That rare satisfaction of actually FINISHING something ✨ No more reading out of obligation ✨ The ability to take risks on new authors without committing to six books Don't get me wrong - some stories deserve multiple books.
